Virginia Harley Swan, age 93, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015. She was
born August 25, 1922 to Hamrick and Laura Lee Harley of Charlotte, NC. Mrs. Swan
was predeceased by her husband Park P. Swan who passed away on the same date
five years earlier.
Mrs. Swan graduated from Swansea High School as Valedictorian and attended
Business College in Raleigh NC. After marriage she lived several years in
Germany and enjoyed traveling to other countries. She also visited every state
in the United States except Alaska. Mrs. Swan was also an accomplished artist
whose specialty was painting in oils.
She is survived by her daughter Sherry S. Harwell of Johnsonville, SC, her son
Lee Swan (Carolyn) of Carrabelle, FL., and her son Chuck Swan (Julie) of LaPlata
MD; six grandchildren; Shelly H. Bellil, Maggie H. Owens, Jenna Swan, Madison
Swan, Park Swan and Jarrett Swan and five great grandchildren. She is also
survived by her sister Sadie McDaniel of Kansas City, MO.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 1, 2015 at the
Hillcrest Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior
Mrs. Swan was a faithful member of Surfside Beach, SC, 16th Ave North, Surfside
Beach, 29575. Memorials may also be given to Beacon Hospice of Murrells Inlet SC
in lieu of flowers.
