MILDRED "MILLIE" MARIE BRUNS was born to Henry and Margie (Trigg) Bruns on September 21, 1920 in Pipestone County. She attended country school in District #24. After she graduated from Pipestone High School in 1940, Millie worked in the meat department at Juba's Super Valu for five years. She then worked in the business office at the Pipestone Hospital for another five years until she became employed as a salesperson at Thompson's Dress Shop in Pipestone. She continued to work there for 18 years. Millie lived with her parents and became their caregiver after they moved into Pipestone. On Friday, February 25, 2011, Millie died at the Pipestone County Medical Center at the age of 90 years, five months and four days.

Millie was a member of Zion Evangelical Church in Pipestone. She was an avid sports fan, especially the Minnesota Vikings and the Atlanta Braves. She liked to watch television shows involving politics, and she read the daily newspaper faithfully. Millie loved jewelry; and in her younger years, she enjoyed bowling. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Dorothy Boese of Pipestone, Minnesota; her brother, Phillip Bruns and his wife Laurie of Los Angeles, California; her niece, Peggy Boese of Pipestone, Minnesota; her nephew, Dennis and his wife Mona Boese of Pipestone, Minnesota; eight great-nieces and nephews; special friend, Mary Steenstra of Holland, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Phyllis; her nephew, Kevin Boese; and her brother-in-law, Tony Boese.
