Adam Carson was born to William Carson and Mary Linn Carson in Augusta County, Virginia. He was the third child born to the couple of eleven. William Carson born 1743 in Pennsylvania died in Augusta County, Virginia March 14, 1799 and Mary Linn Carson born 1745 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania died March 20, 1816 in Dandridge, Jefferson County, Tennessee.

Adam Carson married Margaret "Peggy" Pagan December 2, 1794 in Bedford County, Virginia. Adam and Peggy were found in Roane County, Tennessee in 1830 census with three sons.
Adam and Peggy Carson moved to Marshall county, Mississippi and were found in the 1840 census records. In 1850 census, Adam and Peggy were living in the home of their son, John Henderson Carson in district 8, Itawamba County, Mississippi. Family records state that Adam Carson and his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Pagan Carson both died in
Tupelo, Lee County, Mississippi and was buried in Petty Cemetery south of Tupelo known as Old Chapel Cemetery.
Their children were:
1. James Louis Carson born September 13, 1807 in Virginia and died June 18, 1896 in Trousdale County, Tennessee. He married Polly Haggard November 28, 1833 in Winchester, Clark County, Kentucky. Polly was born September 4, 1810 in Winchester, Clark County, Kentucky and died November 15, 1857 in Sumner County, Tennessee. They had 13 children. James remarried twice after Polly died. He married Permelia H. Alexander on November 13, 1858 in Smith county, Tennessee then married Urilda M. (Mrs.) Robertson on August 31, 1877 in Sumner County, Tennessee.
2. Alfred Fletcher Carson born January 28, 1810 in Roane County, Tennessee and died February 25, 1881 in Verona, Lee County, Mississippi. Alfred Fletcher Carson married Rebecca Virginia Catherine Lafayette Turner on January 10, 1840 in Marshall County, Mississippi. They had eight children. Their daughter Laura Carson married her first cousin, James Tilford Carson, son of James Louis Carson and Polly Haggard Carson.
3. John Henderson Carson born 1818 in Roane county, Tennessee and died February 22, 1892 in Central Grove, Monroe County, Mississippi. John Henderson Carson married Elizabeth S Griffen Anderson August 27, 1840 in Marshall County, Mississippi.
