MARION - Alva G. Campbell, 63, a retired textile worker, died Tuesday at a Columbia hospital.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Marion Church of God. Burial will be in Devotion Gardens Cemetery, directed by Smith Collins Funeral Home.
Mr. Campbell was born Oct. 29, 1916 in Marion County, a son of the late Willie S. Campbell and Mrs. Henrietta E. Campbell. He was a member of the Church of God. He was an army veteran of World War II and was a member of the VFW. He was formerly married to the late Mrs. Gertrude Turner Campbell.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Daisy Cooper Huggins Campbell of Marion; two sons, Billy T. Campbell of Mullins and Freddie E. Campbell of Marion; three daughters, Mrs. Patricia Ann Skipper, Mrs. Marie Ammons, both of Marion and Mrs. Alice Faye Grant of Hillsboro, N.C.; three stepsons, Bill Huggins of Bonneau, Jack Huggins of Aynor and Willie J. Huggins of Marion; five stepdaughters, Mrs. Bobbie Jean King of Greenville, Mrs. Jewel Harrelson and Mrs. Helen Floyd, both of Sumter, Mrs. Betty Small of Andrews and Miss Mary Huggins of Marion; three brothers, Ira Campbell of Conway, Durham Campbell of Columbia and Brailford Campbell of Marion; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Whitlow of Danville, Va.; and 19 grandchildren.
