BROWN -- Bonnie Kathleen Smith, 102, formerly from Tulsa, OK, currently of Missoula, MT, passed away January 29, 2005, in Missoula. She was born January 19, 1903, on a farm near Owasso, OK. She was the oldest daughter of Homer LaFayette Smith and Alice Valinda Flournoy Smith.

She moved with her family to Owasso when she was in third grade to help care for her grandmother, Sarah Penelope Fields Smith, after the death of her grandfather, John Jackson Smith. Bonnie and her sister, Thelma, enjoyed living in town because they could attend the First Christian Church pie suppers they missed while living on the farm. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1927 with a degree in Education and Fine Arts. She married in 1929 to William Davis Brown. She taught school for 31 years in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arizona; 27 of those years she taught art. In 1989 she moved to Missoula, MT, to live with her daughter. She was a member of DAR, AAUW and UDC.

Bonnie is survived by her daughter, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, all living in Montana.

Entombment service will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park/Abby Mausoleum (Abby Chapel) in Tulsa on Monday, February 7, 2005, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Richard Blissit officiating.
