George E. Dickey
Feb. 13--The passing of George E. Dickey occurred Feb. 10 after a long period of ill health. The immediate cause of his death was a shock suffered Jan. 29. Mr. Dickey was born in Monroe May 13, 1852, the son of Robert and Mary (Page) Dickey. In 1884 he married Miss Ellen L. Smart of Olamon, who died in 1919. For many years the family resided in Easton, coming to Atkinson 20 years ago. Since the death of his wife the deceased had made his home with his daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Smith, who have faithfully cared for him.
Mr. Dickey and his wife were attendants of the Baptist church for years and during his ill health he had often expressed a desire to go and be at rest. Three children died in early life and besides the daughter, Mrs. Smith, he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. T. D. Crabtree of South Dover; by 11 grandchildren; a half-brother, W. N. Jenkins of Atkinson; a brother-in-law, Edwin Smart of Hampden; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mary J. Dickey of Eden and Mrs. Sylvina F. Dickey of Presque Isle; and a large number of nephews and nieces.
A memorial service was held at the home Feb. 10 attended by Rev. F. P. Sawyer. The remains were taken to Easton.
