James Hodges, Sr.

Ware Shoals – James Eugene Hodges, Sr., 88, of 18166 Highway 25, died Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood.

Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late William Earl and Myrtle Carter Hodges. He was a member of the Ware Shoals United Methodist Church and was retired from Riegel Textile Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, World War II and a member of the Ware Shoals Masonic Lodge # 306 A.F.M.

Surviving are a son, James Eugene Hodges, Jr. of Rock Hill, a daughter, Bonnie Buffington of Ware Shoals, two brothers, Elmer Hodges of Ware Shoals and Jodie Hodges of Hodges, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Grace Herring and Ruby Ashley.

Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Carol Peppers-Wray officiating.
