WEAVERVILLE: Edna Grindstaff Angel Fox, 85 of 6 Pleasant Grove Rd., went home to heaven on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Madison Manor Health and Rehab. She was born in Yancey County to the late John Henry and Ada Huskins Grindstaff. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Summey Angel and Ned Fox. Edna was a member of Middle Fork Independent Baptist Church. She never met a stranger and loved to talk. She raised a garden until the age of 82. Edna loved to eat and feed everyone.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Merrill and husband Lane of Salem, SC, son, Sonny Angel and wife Mabel of Mars Hill and step-son, Terry Fox of Mars Hill, grandchildren; Shawn Hyer, Roger Angel, Jeff Lindsey, Brenda Angel and Christy McKinney, step-grandsons; Tim Merrill, Athena Fox and Cynthia Fox, great grandchildren; Emily Hyer, Josh, Jacob and Jordan Merrill and Alisha Lindsey.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 27, 2011 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Rev. Eugene Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow at Middle Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Shawn and Eddie Hyer, Josh, Jacob, Tim and Jordan Merrill, Roger, Jerry, Charlie and Stephen Angel. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 Sunday prior to the service.
