No doubt Travis was named after his grandfather Alexander Ashby and granduncle Travis Ashby. His nephew, William Travis Milstead, was most likely named after HIM, while Will's great-grandson, Rodney Travis Zielinski, is the most recent namesake.

Travis married Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Wagonner, daughter of George Waggoner and Minerva Jane Ashby, on 18 Nov 1880 in Lincoln County.

Very old records indicate a birth of a child of theirs on 30 October 1881 in Lincoln Co., TN.

His death was listed as "near Buckeye," now known as Mimosa. Mary is said to have married a B.F. Pawling on 16 September 1915.

I am linking to the one BELIEVED to be her, but it still needs confirmation.
