Sheffield, IL - Edward P. "Glub" Glubcynski, 82, of Sheffield died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at his home.

Edward was born Dec. 17, 1928, in LaSalle, Ill., the son of Edward and Theresa (Schmidt) Glubczynski. He was united in marriage to Loretta Sabowski on Aug. 20, 1955, in LaSalle, Ill., and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Edward attended LPO Junior College and graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS in dairy engineering and worked for Dean Milk Co. before deciding on a career in teaching. He earned an MS degree in science from Western Illinois University and worked as a science teacher for over 30 years at Western Community Schools Unit 306 in Buda.

Edward was a member of St. Patrick's Church, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion, all in Sheffield. He had served many years on the Sheffield Village Board. Glub was an avid Boy Scout leader, taking the troop on a trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

He enjoyed his many years as adviser to the high school science club, taking them on a yearly canoeing trip to the Minnesota Boundary Waters, and they also operated the Bureau County Deer Checking Station for many years. His main joys were camping, traveling and giving people a hard time.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta; three children, Ann Glubczynski of Dunsmuir, Calif., Joan Glubczynski of Bella Vista, Ariz., and Paul (Beth) Glubczynski of Pekin, Ill.; grandchildren, Nicholas, Derek and Dylan; and a sister, Nancy Tupa of Ferris, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Paula.

Inurnment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Sheffield with military rites.
