Kathleen Irwin
Kathleen "Kitty" Irwin, 62, of Rt. 3, Parsons, died at 12:56 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 1986, at the Labette County Medical Center. She had been in poor health from emphysema for more than six years.
She was born July 21, 1923, at Lawrence, KS to James and Elizabeth (Lovejoy) Stewart. She came to Parsons with her parents when she was 3 years old. She attended Parsons schools and was graduated from Parsons High School in 1941. She attended the University of Kansas and the University of Colorado at Boulder.
She and Robert Irwin were married April 5, 1947, at Richland, Wash. He survives of the home.
They lived in Casper, Wyo., later moving to Tulsa and then to Denver. They owned and operated a motel in Amarillo, Texas, from 1953 to 1954, and from 1954 to 1967, they owned and operated a furniture store in Pryor, Okla. In 1967, they returned to Parsons to be affliated with her father, J.M. Stewart, in the Stewart Pharmacy until 1977.
She was associated with Bob Irwin Realtors as a licensed broker and realtor until her health failed. She was a licensed broker in Kansas and Oklahoma.
Mrs. Irwin was very active in showing and breeding registered quarter horses and had a number of grand champion quarter horses through the years.
She was a member of the Pryor Presbyterian Church and was an accomplished organist. She was a member of the National Board of Realtors and the local and state boards of realtors.
Survivors include: two sons, Randolph "Randy" of Parsons and Lt. Cmdr. William serving in the U.S. Navy at San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren; and a brother, Dr. Donald Stewart of Los Gatos, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Jane, in 1947.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Burris-Carson-Wall Funeral Home with the Rev. Norton Ritter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
