Dennis arrived in Vietnam and was assigned to H & S Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.
The battalion was participating in Operation Prairie when the Marines encountered hostile forces 2 kilometers north northeast of Con Thien. Lt Bradley died as a result of multiple fragmentation wounds to the head and right shoulder.
