Janie was reunited with her parents and her daughter on Sunday morning, February 20, 2011 while in the service of our Heavenly Father.

Janie was born November 8, 1944 to James and Alma Baer. She married her one and only true love and life companion James J. Murphy on September 10, 1963. Ten years later, they were sealed in the St. George Temple for time and all eternity. Together, they had three beautiful children, Cynthia Jane, Sandra Ann, and the baby Mikehel J. Janie loved being a mother and was proud of her children's life accomplishments. Janie was blessed to have five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was known as "Grandma Murphy" to any child who crossed her path.

Her latest calling in the church was Primary President and also as a sunbeam teacher. The children in her class didn't call her Sister Murphy, they called her "Grandma Murphy". She loved her calling, and was grateful for the time she had with those kids. Her patriarchal blessing says that she will teach children and be a teacher in this life and the next.

She also enjoyed many other things in this life. Jimmy and Janie had a strong love for car shows, road trips, boating, fishing, reading westerns and any church related books. They were definitely meant to be. They worked at AT&T for twenty years together. They had such a strong and everlasting love for one another.

Janie had a wonderful personality, If you wanted to know the truth, she would let you know whether it be in a nice way or not so nice way. She was always very honest and loved giving her opinion on things. She was very funny and a joy to be around. She would do anything for anyone. She had a smile to brighten a dark room.

Janie is preceded in death by her parents, sister Barbra, brother Jimmy, and her oldest daughter Cynthia Jane. She is survived by her eternal companion James Murphy, son Mikehel (Angie) Murphy, daughter Sandra Ann Murphy, and her dog Sadie Sue; mother-in-law Thurma Brown; sisters Alma and June and brother Eddie; grandchildren Tristin (Kourtnee) Barney, Karleigh (Gavin) Thain, Garett Barney, Trenten and Jaden Murphy; her great "grand-babies" Caydan (7), Brynlee (4), Drake (2), and Seth (8 months). Also, many other friends and family members.

Grandma, we will miss the joy you brought into our lives, and your legacy will live on in us. We know you're preparing the way for us and we will be seeing you again in a beautiful place somewhere... sometime.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Taylorsville Twenty-Seventh Ward Chapel, 2976 West 4270 South. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior on Saturday, all at the Church.
Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
