William Henry Clark, was born in Rochester, New York, October 28, 1818, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Reuben Sellers, near Fremont, Ind., Aug 16, 1904, aged 85 years, 9 months and 19 days.

His mother having died when he was but a babe he was left in life to shift for himself. In December 1847 he was married to Elizabeth Rhinehart, of Woodville, Ohio, and to this union was born four daughters all of whom are living and did all that loving hands could do to comfort him in his declining years. He with his family came to Steuben county in 1851 where they have since resided. The meeting of the "Old Settlers" was always a day of enjoyment and a source of much pleasure to him. Many years ago he identified himself with the German Baptist church.

He leaves to mourn for him an aged companion, four daughters, Mrs. Mary Button, Mrs. Jane Sellers, Mrs. Emma Hamilton and Mrs. Hattie Cleckner, also 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, besides many other relatives and friends.

During his last days he was a great sufferer but bore it all patiently only wishing from day to day that he could pass to his long home.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Reichelderfer, of Fremont at the South Scott church, Aug. 19, and he was borne to his last resting place by six of his grandsons. Burial in South Scott cemetery.
