Albert H. Scouten died in Powhattan Saturday, May 18, from blood poisoning, caused by gangrene in his toes.
He was born in Hiawatha Feb. 19, 1860, and was 47 years, 2 months and 29 days old.
He was married to Jennie McNitt, March 10, 1893, who survives him to mourn the loss of a devoted companion.
One brother and four sisters are living. Mr. Scouten was of a quiet and retiring nature, upright and honorable in all his dealings, a good citizen, well respected by all who knew him.
The funeral was conducted at the home by Rev. J. W. Warner and the body was laid to rest in Mt. Hope cemetery in Hiawatha.
