Note: A very graphic obituary for William T Hunt was published and posted online. The beginning portion of it has been edited out by this contributor for content due to the extreme graphic nature of the item. William died as the result of an engine accident in which he was caught in machinery, causing his instant death.

Note: middle name and spouse link added to this memorial per edit request on July 28, 2015.

"Fairfield Ledger",
March 25, 1885,
Pg. 3, Col. 4

"..... Mr. HUNT was about 37 years of age. He came here from Pennsylvania, and had lived in this county since boyhood. He was a soldier in Company C, 7th Iowa Cavalry. About eight years ago he was married to Miss Eletta BLACK (sic), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.C. BLACK, living west of this city, who survives him. He also leaves four children. During his long residence here he had won many warm friends by his industry and integrity as a good citizen and neighbor. The funeral occurs this afternoon, the remains being interred in this city.

---------
Note: The headstone for William is only partial for him. The base "HUNT" is for him. At some point there was likely vandalism done to the cemetery and the top portion was removed. What is in place now is for someone whose last name was "Gill", but their inscription is too weathered to read and there is no one listed in cemetery transcriptions to match with.
