Reba Agnew Vaughn, 96 of Steens, MS passed away Monday, February 14, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - GT, Columbus, MS.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 5 -7 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 2 PM at New Salem Baptist Church, Columbus, MS with Rev. Roy Myers officiating and Rev. David Woods and Rev. Andy Vaughn assisting. She will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Steens, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.
Mrs. Vaughn was born May 23, 1914 in Maury County, Tennessee to the late Rufus Franklin and Nellie "Journey" Agnew. She was a resident of the Lowndes County, MS area since 1921 having moved from Tennessee. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of New Salem Baptist Church and the Woodlawn Homemakers Club. She was a perfectionist in her hobbies of sewing, cooking and gardening, especially roses. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vaughn is preceded in death by her husband, Gunter Wesley Vaughn.
Mrs. Vaughn is survived by her children - Elaine (Wayne) West, Columbus, MS; Henry (Kay) Vaughn, Steens, MS; Tommy (Kay) Vaughn, Steens, MS; and George (Donna) Vaughn, Birmingham, AL; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Hank Vaughn, Andy Vaughn, Wesley Vaughn, Spencer Vaughn, Terry Westmoreland, Doug Knittig, Chris Winklepleck and Hal Kerstetter. Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of New Salem Baptist Church, Billy Hays, Don Gilmore, Clay Shepherd, Lacy Freeman, Dr. Doyle Sumrall, Jim Vaughn, Douglas Holliman and Darren Holliman.
Memorials may be made to New Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, 7086 Wolf Road, Columbus, MS 39705.

Gunter and Reba were married May 23,1934 as listed in the Egger Family Marriage Book.

Miss Reba was also preceded in death by a son, Gunter Wesley Vaughn Jr. 1937.
