Walter E. Lundsten, 90, Grand Forks, ND, died Friday, November 27, 2009 at home.

Walter Elmer Lundsten was born to Anton and Jenny (Anderson) Lundsten on January 2, 1919 at Sauk Centre, Minnesota. He attended school in Sauk Centre.

He was inducted in the U.S. Army on August 9, 1944 at Ft. Knox, KY, and served in Asiatic Pacific Theatre during World War II until he was discharged on August 30, 1946.

Walter Lundsten and Delores Heinz were united in marriage on April 23, 1949 at Royalton, Minnesota. He was employed by McCree Construction for 4 years in southern Minnesota. He was locally employed by Northern Construction for 14 years, Valley Contracting for 16 years, and also by Northern Improvement as a General Superintendent.

Walter was a Life Member of VFW Post #3817, Eagles Aerie 350, East Grand Forks, MN, and a 25 year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers No. 49.

Walter's family was important to him. He enjoyed his six sisters and two brothers. He enjoyed his yard and gardening and flowers.

He is survived by his wife, Delores, Grand Forks; daughter, Lisa Lundsten, and her son, Myron Danielson; son, Gregory (Sandra Dolly) Lundsten and their children, Jennifer and Laura; Sarasota, FL.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alva, Nora, Vera, Gladys, Lillian; brothers, Clarence and Arnold.

Memorial Mass: 11:00 Tuesday, December 1, 2009 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 215 Belmont Rd., Grand Forks, ND.

Family Greeting: one hour prior to the service in the church.

Military Honors: North Dakota National Guard, VFW Post #3817 and American Legion Post #157, East Grand Forks, Minnesota.

Interment: Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, Minnesota.
