Death visited Same Home Twice
James M. Beggs and David Gibney died Tuesday in Kimbolton. Death twice visited
the Beggs home in Kimbolton, Tuesday, January 18th, within eight hours, taking
two aged and well known citizens, the first being James M. Beggs, aged 83 years,
who passed away during afternoon at 4 o'clock, and again at midnight when Mrs.
Beggs' brother David Gibney, aged 82 years, died.
Double funeral srevices will be held at the Beggs' home Friday morning at 10
o'clock, conducted by Rev. W.M. Hay, of the U.P. church, assisted by Rev. T.M.
Bailey, of the M.E. church. The body of Mr. Beggs will be laid to rest in the
Pleasant Hill cemetery, immediately following the services, and at 3 o'clock,
the body of Mr. Gibney will be buried in the Kimbolton cemetery.
Mr. Beggs was born on a farm and except for the three years he served his
country during the Civil War, his entire life had been spent in this vicinity.
He was a member of the U.P. Church, and also the Cambridge G.A.R. post.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Sarah R. Beggs, one brother, J.T. Beggs, of
Kimbolton, and two sisters, Miss Dorcas J. Beggs, of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs.
H.H. Gibson, of Miami, Florida.
