John Terrell was from Newton Co. Ga.

The 66th Infantry Regiment was organized in Atlanta, Georgia, during the summer of 1863. It eventually joined the Army of Tennessee, and then joined Gen. Hardee's Corp. Battles: Missionary Ridge, Resaca, Kennesaw, Peach Tree Creek, Jonesboro. They surrendered on 26 Apr 1865.

The Battle of Jonesboro was fought August 31, and September 1, 1864. It was the final battle of the Atlanta Campaign, and was the ultimate reason that the city of Atlanta fell into Union hands. Sherman occupied Atlanta 3 Sep 1864.
