EAST RANDOLPH - Adah E. Simons Stalnaker, 87, of East Randolph, formerly of North Haven and Madison, Conn., died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011.
She was the beloved wife of the late Thurl Stalnaker, Sr. Mrs. Stalnaker was born in Fitchburg, Mass. on May 6, 1923, a daughter of the late Colonel Webster L. Simons and Dorothy Swett Simons, and was a longtime North Haven resident.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church for many years and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth G. (Elrond) Wojtkiewcz of Madison, Conn.; four sons, Thurl (Shelly) Stalnaker, Jr. of Aloha, Ore., Howard W. (Nancy) Stalnaker of Colchester, Vt., Scott E. (Teri Moneysmith) Stalnaker of Pflugerville, TX, and Craig S. (Loretta) Stalnaker of East Randolph; a sister, Dorothy Gibson of Alexandria, Va.; a brother, Rev. Harrison (Gene) Simons of Oxford, N.C.; 10 grandchildren and a greatgrandson. She was predeceased by two sisters, Virginia Haskell and Martha Bullwinkle; and three brothers, Rev. Webster Simons, Duncan Simons and Rev. John Simons.
THERE WILL BE NO CALLING HOURS. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service which will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 3 Trumbull Place, North Haven.
Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
