1/19/1914 - 2/11/2011
Neva Parker quietly passed away after 97 years of life on Friday, February 11, 2011.
Born in Treat, Arkansas, on January 19, 1914 to Jack and Fannie Ross, Neva grew up in the Midwest. When the Ross' family moved to Scraper, Okla., she met and married Vernon Parker, a grocery store clerk. They had two daughters while living in Oklahoma, Glenda and Cloma. Later, the four of them moved west and settled in Turlock, Calif., where Vernon and Neva added two more daughters, Janice and Darlene, to the family. Neva and Vernon worked in and owned grocery stores all of their working lives. They also helped to establish the Free Will Baptist Church in Turlock, Calif., and were devoted members for many years. Neva was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sewing. She had a snappy sense of humor and a sweet smile.
Neva was preceded in death by Vernon as well as four sisters, five brothers, and son-in-law, Terry Boyd. She is survived and will be missed by her daughters Glenda Gonzales (Hank), Cloma Kelly (Terry), Janice Boyd, and Darlene Parker. She will also be missed by her 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Recently, Neva moved to Auburn, Calif., to live with her granddaughter, Kathryn Gonzales-Culwell. We loved Neva and know she is now with Vernon and our heavenly Father.
Neva will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, Calif.
