Wayne T. Konitzer, 64, Popple River, formerly of Oconto Falls, completed his journey with family at his side early Friday morning, Feb. 18, 2011, at the home of his oldest brother, Chester. The 7th of 15 children was born June 1, 1946, in Oconto Falls, to George and Irene (Van Haren) Konitzer. Wayne grew up in rural Oconto Falls where he attended St. Anthony Parochial School and graduated from Oconto Falls High School with the Class of 1965.

On Aug. 14, 1965, he married Rosemary VandenBush at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls. The couple owned and operated Konitzer Cabinets for 35 years before retiring to the home they built in Popple River in 2008. Over the years, Wayne enjoyed anything with an engine that could be raced or competed with including snowmobiles, stock cars, off road racing and antique tractor pulls. He also enjoyed all kinds of hunting with his family and friends. Wayne will be fondly remembered as being very generous with his time and many talents with "no strings attached."
