- ROCK HILL - Mr. Robert Malone Jones Jr. died on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011.
- Born in Ninety-Six, S.C., on June 29, 1927, he was the son of the late Mary (Fuller) and Robert Malone Jones. After attending Gordon Military College, he served as staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. Robert Jones retired with 45 years of service from the Independent Life and Accident Insurance Company where he had served as district manager. He was past president of the Greenwood and York County Life Underwriters Associations and served as National Committeeman for 20 years. He was chosen Outstanding Life Underwriter in 1973 and received the Carroll H. Jones Award. In Greenwood, he served as the past president of the Greenwood Jaycees. He was a dedicated member of the First Assembly of God of Rock Hill for over 40 years, where he formerly served on the Board of Deacons.
- Robert Jones is survived by his loving wife, Frances (Wash) Jones; his daughter and son-in-law, Dale Stevenson and Danny; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Alexander and Don; five grandchildren, Robert Jones Alexander, Frances Nelle Alexander, Milton Donald Alexander III, Bradley Ware Alexander and Susan Alexander Mount; two great-grandchildren, Milton Donald Alexander IV and William Knox Alexander; and many nieces and nephews.
- In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Earl Jones; and his five sisters, Frances Lucille Jones, Edna Jones Funderburk, Irma Jones Benjamin, Viola Jones Martin and Mildred Jones Marder.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd., Rock Hill, S.C., with interment in Forest Hills Cemetery following the service.
