Have note from either Kelly or Bob saying Francis Marion Gunter born June 19, 1928 and died Oct. 9, 1880 in Motley Co., TX. Fair and Joshua both on 1830 Census in GA.

Notes per Kelly Mears:
According to 1860 Coffee Co., AL census, he was born in Georgia; was
married to Bethenia, who was born ca. 1834 in South Carolina. The value
of his real estate was $800 and the value of his personal estate was
$200. (In this census, daughter Susan is 2 years old, which is probably
incorrect, since the Gunter tombstone corresponds with the 1880 census
which gives her age as 20).

The family moved to Montgomery Co., Texas ca. 1875 (Susan Elizabeth's
1949 funeral record says she resided in state 74 years). After Sue's
death, he sold the land, and then lived with various children. In 1900
he was living with son Bonard in Willis. In 1910 he lived with daughter
Texas in Houston.

Notes per Bob Shepard:
Carol West got Francis Marion Gunter's Civil War records and he was in
the 8th Alabama Infantry, Company A, which was formed in 9/4/1861.
Carol's mother is Opal Williams, whose mother is Catherine Gunter.
Catherine was one of Henry Bonard's daughters.
