In Memoriam.

Mr. John Conover was born in Adair county, Ky., June 1st, 1809. Was married to Miss Sallie Rogers October 24th, 1833, died Nov. 14, 1893. He was 84 years old last June.

Five children were born from this union; four sons and one daughter. Three sons and one daughter still survive, and one son and mother have gone on before him. The son was killed on the battlefield of Shiloh at the post of duty. The wife has been dead about 11 years. There are also 24 living grand children and 29 great grand children.

He had been a member of the Baptist church for more than sixty years. he was a faithful, devoted and zealous christian, and lived to see all his living children converted, and a goodly number of his grand children, most all of whom are members of the Baptist church.

He was conscientious in the discharge of his duties in the varied relations of life. He was anxious for the conversion of everybody, and was a faithful worker in protracted meetings, both in word and prayer.

He resided in Adair county all his life and was a good citizen, an ardent friend, kind husband, devoted father, and faithful christian. In his last illness he did not talk much about death or the future, but was interested in the Church of which he was a member, and urged the brethren to secure a preacher.

When he heard of the meeting at Liberty, where he had spent a week last fall in a meeting conducted by Bro. Wright, and made many warm friends, he requested that a dispatch be sent to the meeting to say he was almost dead. He died as he lived, a faithful christian.

His character and devoted christian life is a living monument to his memory, and will still live on after him. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord; yea sayeth the spirit, they shall rest from their labors and their works do follow them."

Bro. Breeding made an appropriate talk at the home of the departed, where a host of friends and relatives gathered to take a last look at the departed in this world. The writer also assisted some in song and word in the services. His favorite song was "Savior more than life to me." The last verse of which is,

"Let me love thee more and more
Till this fleeting, fleeting life is o're,
Till my soul is lost in love,
In a brighter, brighter world above."

"Every day, every hour,
Let me feel thy cleansing power,
May thy tender love to me,
Bind me closer, closer Lord to Thee."
