John A. Ammons, 77, of 1834 Calhoun St., Owensboro, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 1989, at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital. He was born in Breckinridge County, was retired from Whitehall Furniture Co. and was a member and deacon of Temple Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Albertine (Bertie) Ammons; one son, Johnny Ammons, and two daughters, Becky Ammons and Mary Edith Boone, all of Owensboro; five grandchildren; one brother, Virgil Ammons of Maceo; and three sisters, Ida Ammons, Eula White, both of Owensboro, and Louise Bryant of Rockport, Ind. Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home. Burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation after noon Monday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
