MASTER St. Louis, MO AREA FUNERAL DIRECTOR/EXECUTIVE. RICHARD G. HOFFMEISTER, son of George W. and Olga J. Hoffmeister, was the third-generation family member, president, CEO and career funeral director at the HOFFMEISTER MORTUARIES of St. Louis, Missouri. A well-known St. Louis businessman, Mr. Hoffmeister served client families of all faiths throughout South St. Louis City and County as well as the greater Metro St. Louis area with funeral services, many of which he directed until his retirement.
A graduate of the prestigious Worsham School of Mortuary Science in Chicago, RICHARD apprenticed at the Hoffmeister firm until he was named General Manager. He became President and CEO on his father GEORGE's retirement.

During Richard's tenure as President and CEO of HOFFMEISTER MORTUARIES, he acquired a number of other South St. Louis area funeral homes and services which he incorporated into the HOFFMEISTER Funeral Service tradition, including the Beiderwieden Funeral Homes, the Wacker-Helderle Funeral Home, and other firms.

The HOFFMEISTER firm has become well-known for its funeral services and support for U.S. veterans throughout the St. Louis metro area as well as the historic Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, a reputation it enjoys to this day.

He sold the HOFFMEISTER MORTUARIES to Service Corporation International (SCI) of Houston, Texas, in the late 1980's. His funeral was held at the Chapel of HOFFMEISTER COLONIAL MORTUARY in St. Louis Hills, with burial following at Forever Bellerive Cemetery. His wife and two daughters survive him. (Presently, there are collateral relatives of CHRISTIAN W. HOFFMEISTER bearing the HOFFMEISTER surname that work for the firm).
