Son of Charles William Aycock and Elizabeth Ann Hill. William Henry changed the spelling of his last name to Aycoth.

His first marriage was to Elizabeth Phillips. The North Carolina marriage records reveal they were married on 11 Dec 1858 in Union County, North Carolina. This would make them married after the birth of their son, Alexander Lucius. More research is needed on this information. Elizabeth probably died around 1905.
