COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for JoAnn Adella Helen Boling, 78, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, at United Church of Cookeville, where Mrs. Boling was a charter member. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Mrs. Boling died Wednesday morning, Feb. 16, 2011, at her home.
She was born Jan. 22, 1933, in Creston, Iowa, to the late Walter Max Oscar and Helena Amanda Matilda Behnke Fischer.
Mrs. Boling and her husband, John R. Boling, were married April 27, 1957, in Balboa, Canal Zone, where her father was employed by the U.S. Government and where John was stationed in the Army.
When they met, Mrs. Boling was employed as secretary to the director of personnel of the Panama Canal Company. On return to the States, she was employed at Tennessee Tech (then TPI) in the University Library. Later, she worked for many years in the College of Engineering. She retired from Tech as an administrative assistant in 1996. She received an Associate of Arts degree from the Canal Zone Junior College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from TTU.
Mrs. Boling was active in her church, in the Tech Garden Club, and in the Algood Book Review Club for many years. After retirement, she also served for a time as a docent at the Cookeville History Museum, but she spent most of her time and energy being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer society or the charity of your choice.
Rev. Paige Pearson will officiate at the services.
