He was born to Carlos Ray and Libbie Spencer Alexander. He grew up in St. Joseph, Mo., and graduated from high school in Atchison, Kan. He graduated from dental school in 1928. He practiced dentistry while serving in the Air Force and became an oral surgeon in 1950. In 1959, he retired from the Air Force with the rank of colonel and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service. He retired from practicing dentistry and moved to Springdale in 1967. He was a member of First Christian Church in Springdale and Paradise Valley Country Club. He was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Powell Alexander, to whom he was married 57 years.
