Ambrose "Ambers" Carroll Goff was the son of William B. and Phoebe Catherine (Walling) Goff. He was married on Oct. 31, 1853 to Mary Catherine Neely in Warren County, Tennessee. Mary Neely was born in Woodbury, Cannon County, Tennessee in 1837. She died sometime after 1880 in McMinniville, Warren County, Tennessee is buried near there.

To Ambrose and Mary 12 children were born:

Sarah (Goff) Bratcher 1860-1902

Medford Jerome Goff 1861-1936. He married Caroline "Callie" Petty on Feb. 16, 1888 in DeKalb County, Tennessee.

Forest Bedford, 1862-_______. He married Ella C. in about 1882 in Warren County, Tennessee.

Mattie Maria, 1873-1947. She married Matthew Ross "Matt" Rainey in about 1893 in Brown County, Texas.

Roberta "Robbie" Anne (Hutcherson), 1874-1943. She married Thomas J. Hutcherson in 1899 in Texas.

After Mary Catherine's death in 1880, Ambrose was married to Sarah Newby in McMinnville, Warren County, Tennessee. There was one child born: John Arthur Goff, 1881-1968.

It is not known when Sarah Newby died but in 1882 Ambers married Mary J. Smith on Sept. 24, 1882 in DeKalb County, Tennessee.

Some time before the 1900 census, Ambers C. Goff had moved from Tennessee to Brownwood, Brown County, Texas where he died in 1901.
