Thomas O. Mauk of R. D. 4, Punxsutawney (Perry Township) died Tuesday, June 19, 1979 in the Punxsutawney Area Hospital. He was 71 years of age.
Friends will be received after 7 p.m. today in the Pifer Funeral Home in Punxsutawney. Friends will be received in the Hicks Funeral Home in Girard after 2 p.m. Thursday until 1 p.m. Friday, the hour of services. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens in Erie.
Mr. Mauk was born July 24, 1907 in Porter Township, the son of Charles and Anna Ruffner Mauk. He was married to the former Iva Rupp, who survives. A lifetime resident of the Punx'y area and Platea, he was a retired coal miner and retired employee of Erie Forge and Steel Company. Mr. Mauk attended the East Springfield Federal Church and was a member of the Dayton Volunteer Fire Company and the Porter Township Sportsman Club.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters: Mrs. Robert (Lillian) Gearhart and Mrs. Richard (Kay) Otteni, both of Platea; Mrs. Charles (Yvonne) Sargent of Albion; one son, Thomas K. Mauk of Warren, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ida Sweeney of Clearwater, Florida; and three brotheers: Blair Mauk of Punxsutawney; Charles Mauk of Battle Creek, Michigan; and Samuel Mauk of R. D. 4, Punxsutawney.
Mr. Mauk was preceded in death by two sons, Otis and Kenneth; one sister, Mae Mitten; four brothers: Harry, James, Bert and Herbert Mauk.
