He was a native of Haywood County and the son of Ruby Ford Conard and the late James Howard Conard. Mr. Conard was also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Jean Stevenson and a brother, Larry Conard. He was a self-employed carpenter, a member of Center Pigeon Baptist Church, a member of Walkfar Coon Hunters of Haywood County and a life long Blue Grass musician.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 43 years Jane Ann Henderson Conard; three sons, Jeff and his wife Billie Conard, Kim D. Conard, and Brian and his wife, Laura Murray Conard all of Canton; one sister, Gerri Cook of Canton; three brothers, Bobby Joe Conard of Waynesville, Howard Conard of Asheboro and Jim Conard of Thomasville and four grandchildren; Jarrod, Austin, Eli and Jenna.
Burial will follow in the Old Thickety Cemetery.
