DUKES-- Theodore F. (Ted), died Saturday morning, July 5 in Tulsa in the company of family, after a short illness. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother; sister; wife and son-in-law, L. Henry Churchill, D.D. He is survived by his daughter; her husband; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; two nephews; several great and great-great-nieces and nephews. Born October 2, 1905, near Talihina, I.T., to Joseph A. and Lillie Powers Dukes, he was a graduate of Talihina High School. He also graduated from The University of Tulsa, where he played basketball. He subsequently attended the OU Law School. He married Alice Kuckert June 9, 1931 in Tulsa. In 1934 he opened a law practice in Hominy, in Osage County after a brief practice in Talihina. He remained active in this practice until he retired in 1992. He served as mayor of Hominy for two terms and as city attorney and judge. He also served as District Attorney of Osage County as a Republican. A devoted churchman, he was an elder of the Presbyterian Church in Hominy where he taught Sunday School for many years. Service will be held Tuesday, July 8 at First Presbyterian Church of Hominy, officiated by pastors Neal Dancer and Dale Blackwood. Burial will be at A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery. Those desiring to do other than send flowers may donate to the memorial fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Hominy. (Tulsa World)
