Mary was born on November 30, 1908 in Swoyersville, Pennsylvania. She was the second of twelve children of Adam and Eva (Lacek) Filip (Phillips). Joseph and Mary had seven children. Mary was a home maker. She had many jobs in her lifetime, but her most important, cherished and heartfelt one was being a mother. She was a giving and loving woman and mother to her children. She enjoyed cooking and sewing. Her family was the number one priority in her life. She was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Catholic Church, Swoyerville and it's women's societies and was affiliated with the Slovak Catholic Sokols. Mary died on December 19, 1945 at the age of 37 and is buried in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
