GULFPORT --- Alex Greene Colson, 90, died Sunday, March 3, 2002, in Gulfport.
Mr. Colson was born in Atterberry, Ill., and had been a resident of Gulfport since 1994. He retired from the Army in 1955 as a CW02 after 20 years of service. He received the following awards: Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (with bronze star), World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and United Nations Service Medal.
Survivors include four daughters, Janet Nelson of Oakland, Calif., Christeena Bolesworth of Riverside, Calif., Olivia Batchelder of Laguna Beach, Calif., and Judith O'Neill of Riverside; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. today at the Naval Home Chapel in Gulfport. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, under the direction of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport.
