Born on July 28, 1938 and died November 18, 2010. He graduated from North Dallas High School in 1956. He married his beloved wife Pat on February 22, 1958 and they shared 51 wonderful years together. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from SMU in 1959 before embarking on a successful business career at Dunn & Bradstreet and Fritz Industries until this year. Doug was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, coach and friend to many. He was active as a founding member of Eastridge Park Christian Church since 1971 and touched many lives through more than four decades of dedicated service to the Mesquite Soccer Association and the North Texas Women's Soccer Association. He was rewarded for his many years of leadership with his induction into the NTWSA Hall of Fame in 2008. Doug and Pat supported many worthy organizations such as PBS and the World Wildlife Foundation. Doug was also a supporter of the NRA.
He was preceded in death by his wife Pat and by his parents, Alvin and Edith Jeffers, and his great grandson Colton. He is survived by sons Greg, Keith, Andy and David; grandchildren Ashton, Megan, Chris, Matt, Aaron and Stephen; great-grandchild Dylan and his trusty dog and companion Coco, as well as many great friends and loves ones. Visitation will be Sunday, November 21, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2010, at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Carroll officiating. Interment to follow at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park in Mesquite, TX.
