Janet Alfarette Wheatley Marsh, 93, died at home on February 15, 2011.

She was born January 14, 1918 in Honeyville, Utah, to George Harold and Dagmar Carolyn Jensen Wheatley. Raised on a farm, she learned the value of hard work and good fun.

Janet graduated from Utah State University and embarked on a teaching career at Arimo, Idaho. There she met a young civil engineer, Phillip (Andy) Marsh. They married on May 30, 1942 in Nashville, Tennessee.

She taught English at Jenifer Junior High School in Lewiston, Idaho, Rigby High School in Rigby, Idaho, and South Junior High School in Boise, Idaho.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, belonging to the Hillside Ward of the Boise Idaho Stake. Her membership in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers brought her great satisfaction.

Mom's great loves, in no particular order, were: her husband and family, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, literature, teaching, traveling, gardening, sewing, spending time at the family cabin in Mackay, ID, and painting. Her watercolors are cherished by her descendants.

Janet is survived by her husband, Phillip A. Marsh, of Boise; children: Janet Marolyn (Steve) Jensen, of Pocatello, Phyllis Andrea (Ken) Crane, of West Jordan, UT, Lisa Scott, and Kerry Marsh (Nanape), of Boise; siblings: Gwendolyn (Floyd) Burnett, Daniel (Lanae) Wheatley, and Peggy (Rodney) Nelson; 14 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Phillip Marsh Jr.; brothers: Bud Wheatley and Theron Wheatley; and sister, Elaine Bawden.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Relyea Funeral Chapel located at 318 N. Latah in Boise.
