SALEM - Michael Dean Bergerson was born February 8, 1939 in Watertown, South Dakota. He grew up in Gervais and Silverton Oregon from the age of 9 years old. He was in the Navy for 20 years and retired in 1975. He moved to Salem and owned Cascade Surgical Inc.

He had many different interests while growing up. He enjoyed FFA in high school. He started a Intramural baseball team in Japan for the United States Marines, also coached Little League baseball. He loved to fish and play practical jokes on people. He brought much joy to people by helping in any way he could. He was a great father and loved his coffee. He will be truly missed by all.

Michael is preceded by his wife, Betty Bergerson; and his bother, Charles Bergerson. He is survived by his daughters, Tera (Myron) Truelove, Laura (Scott) Chaffey; his son, Lawrence M (Jackie) Bergerson; brother, Roger Bergerson (Linda); sister, Karen (John) Mack; sister-n-law, Julie Bergerson; grandchildren, Nathan Gneckow, Timothy Bergerson, Sonja Bates, Alyssabeth Waltermire, Dylan Wells, Gerokani Miller, Benjamin A. Bergerson, Emily R. Bergerson, Allyson E. Chaffey, Wyatt S. Chaffey; 3 great-grand children, and his cat, Tiger.

Service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Salem, Oregon. Graveside Service will be 12:30 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
