ROME - Kendrick L. McMinn, 62, of Rome, passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 at his home with his family by his side after a long illness.
He was born Nov. 27, 1948 in Rome, a son of John Azel and Catherine Smith McMinn. On Jan. 31, 1970 he married Deborah Sorrell in Rome. She passed away on Feb. 17, 2006.
Kendrick served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1969 and served in Vietnam. He was employed at Revere Copper Products for 38 years, retiring in 2007 due to illness. Kendrick enjoyed hunting, cars, hiking, spending time with his family, photography, music and genealogy.
Kendrick is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Kristi and Joseph Serra, Rome, Tonya and Scott Rood, Munnsville, Renee McMinn, Milton, Fla. and Bernie Mackey, Rome; his mother, Catherine McMinn, Rome; two sisters; Barbara and Dave Oswood and Catherine and Paul Zbiegien; two brothers, John McMinn and Norman McMinn; eight grandchildren, Christopher Mackey, Brooke Rood, Kendee Serra, Joseph Serra III, Morgan Rood, Dominica Serra, Nichole McMinn, Scott Rood Jr.; and his canine companion, Baxter.
There are no services or calling hours. Interment will be in Rome Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care. Arrangements by Prince-Boyd & Hyatt Home for Funerals, 210 W. Court St., Rome.
