Mrs. Jean Lewis, longtime bus driver for the Piggott School District, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

She was born on April 20, 1943, in Memphis, Tennessee, and was the daughter of the late Carlton Houston and Alice Brown Kail.

She was united in marriage to Junior Lewis and to this union three sons were born.

Her son, David Lewis, Jr. and her brother Carlton "Buddy" Kail, Jr. preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband Junior Lewis of Piggott; sons, Michael Lewis of Palmer, Alaska, and Travis Lewis of Piggott, Arkansas; three grandchildren: Holland Clayton of Fort Richardson, Alaska, Spencer Lewis of Palmer, Alaska, and David Nathaniel Lewis of Piggott, Arkansas; one great grandson, Michael Clayton; brother, Charles Purvis; three sisters, Marilyn Alvonetty, Janice Oberle, and Janiece Kail; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. in Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Danny Self officiating. Burial is in Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Ralph Lewis, Charles Foster, Spencer Lewis, Chris Lewis, Randy Low, and Eric Donahue. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is 6:00 p.m. Tuesday.
