Widow of Mr. James A. Strong Jr. HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Mrs. Ernestine H. Strong, of Hephzibah, died on Monday, January 17, 2011. She was 87 years old. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta. The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Committal services will follow in the family plot at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mrs. Strong is survived by her daughter, Linda M. Strong, of Plainfield, Indiana; her grandson, Greg Feutral (Saprina Minyard), of Harlem; her great-grandchildren, Sierra and Gage; her sister-in-law, Connie Curran, of Colorado. Her husband, James A. Strong Jr., preceded her in death in 2004. Mrs. Strong was a member of Saint Josephs Catholic Church. Mrs. Strong was a Holocaust survivor. Along with her family, she was interred in Buchenwald and Auschwitz Concentration Camps, for more than twenty-two months. She retired from Gracewood State School where she was a cook. Gardening and cooking were passions that she enjoyed through the years. The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, 706.7987.8886 is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
