Burl S. Barnes was born Jan. 14, 1910, in Johnson County and was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Barnes, or "Pa Pa" as he was affectionately called by his family, loved woodworking and was always making wooden gifts for his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma J. Barnes, and a daughter, Doris Brown.
Survivors: Daughter, Judy Stiefel of Hurst; son, Burl D. "Butch" Barnes of Burneyville, Okla.; sister, Aggie Lee Farquhar of Lake Worth; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
