Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Funeral Home for Dean A Adamson, 79, who died Sunday Aug 9, 1998, shortly after arrival at a Topeka hospital.

He was born June 24, 1919, in Ottawa, to Everett Hiram and Lena Weaver Adamson, and lived in Topeka since 1946. He worked for the Santa Fe Railway 38 years before he retired. He was a muscian and established the Dean Adamson Orchestra and was the orchestra leader for 25 years.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and the Air Force during the Korean War and held the rank of captain when he was discharged.

He was a member of Potwin Presbyterian Church, Orient Lodge No 51, AF & AM, and Arab Shrine. He played in the Arab Shrine Band, Santa Fe Band and Marshall's Band.

He was married to Florine Israel Aug 30, 1941, in Ottawa. She survives. A grandson, Robert Wayne Adamson, died in 1976.

Other survivors include sons, Robert Adamson, Topeka, and Tim Adamson, Perry; a daughter, Debra Coniglio, Woodcliff Lake, N.J.; a brother, William Adamson, Shawnee Mission; a sister, Margaret Dick, Overland Park; and five grandchildren.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr Adamson will lie in state after noon Wednesday at the funeral home where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
