MRS. GOWL DIES AT SINGERS GLEN - (Special to Daily News-Record)
Singers Glen. Oct 6 - Mrs. Martha Alice Gowl, aged 83, wife of Adam J. Gowl, died tonight at 10:50 o'clock from infirmities at the home of her son Wade H. Gowl near Singers Glen. She had been in ill health for the past two years. Mrs. Gowl was born in West Rockingham, the daughter of the late Israel Minnick. She had long been a member of the Fairview Church of the Brethren church, and was loved and respected among a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. Surviving are her husband and four children: John E., Robert N., and Wade H. Gowl, of Near Singers Glen, and Mrs. Fred Spitzer, of Harrisonburg; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was the last surviving member of her family. No funeral arrangements have as yet been made. (Daily News-Record, Harrisonburg, VA, Tuesday, October 7, 1930)
