Edward Francis Fisher, 85, of 344 Lake Forest Drive, Spartanburg, died Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson. Born August 8, 1925, in Lynbrook, Long Island, NY, he was the son of the late Frank Charles and Mary E. Sullivan Fisher.

Following graduation from high school, Mr. Fisher attended Fordham University and after one year, joined the U. S. Navy where he served for three years. After his Navy service, he returned to Fordham where he received his BS degree in Economics. Mr. Fisher then began his career with the U. S. Air Force where he served honorably for 26 years and retired in 1971 having earned the rank of Major. His military tenure spanned World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. For his leadership service in Thailand during the Vietnam War, he was awarded the Joint Services Commendation Medal. While serving in the Air Force, Mr. Fisher continued his education at The Air Command and Staff College and the Air Force University Institute of Technology where he earned both a Master of Science degree in Logistical Management and a Master of Business Administration degree.

Following retirement from the military, he worked with Milliken & Company, Spartan Mills, and Kraft Foods. As a member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent, he was liaison with the Boy Scout Troop 1 and a mentor for children and a tireless volunteer for the needy. He was a Colonel with the South Carolina State Guard and he also proudly served as a volunteer with Mobile Meals, the
