Claude Fallwell Dies In Ontario

Claude L. Fallwell, formerly of La Grande, passed away Friday in Ontario, it was learned here today.

Mr. Fallwell had been minister of the local Church of Christ during his entire 10 year stay in La Grande. Before that he was a minister of that church in Wallowa where he also operated a truck farm.

He was born in Chico, Wise County, Texas. He followed the minister for most of his life, having spent a considerable amount of time in the Northwest. During his residency at La Grande he also operated the Half-Way market on the Island City highway. It was then that he received national recognition for his "Old Man from the County," a series of folksy columns on local history.

He is survived by his wife, Maude, two sons and daughters. The funeral is to be held at Lewiston, Idaho, this afternoon.
