Mrs. Goforth was born November 6, 1930 in Charlotte, NC and was the daughter of the late Hoyle and Idell Aycoth. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Goforth and her brother James Aycoth.
Rebecca was a graduate of Mercy School of Nursing and retired from Mercy Hospital with a nursing career of 45 years. She was a member of the Stephenson Presbyterian Church for many years, and where she served as a member of the Session as well. Rebecca will be truly missed by many.
Rebecca is survived by her brother, Bill F. Aycoth, and his wife Marcell of the home; a sister-in-law, Norma Aycoth of Charlotte; three nephews, one niece; five great nephews, and two great nieces.
A funeral service will be held to celebrate the life of Rebecca Goforth on Monday April 29, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the Colonial Chapel of McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, with the Rev. Warren Nance officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family of Mrs. Goforth will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers for Mrs. Goforth service will include, Neal Helms, Gary Presslar, Joe Rorie, James Mills, Johnny Presslar, and Larry Tyson.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be sent to Hospice of Charlotte, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204, or the Stephenson Presbyterian Church, 4224 Rocky River Rd., Monroe, NC 28110.
