Herman Bailey, 79, of Russellville, Arkansas, died Sunday, September 21, 2003 at his home. The son of Charles and Rhoda Elvira (Wells) Bailey, he was born August 31, 1924 in the Mill Creek Community of Pope County. Herman married Mildred Marie Goates, on October 19, 1949 at Russellville, Arkansas. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II. Herman worked as a machine operator with International Shoe Company for 44 years. He was a member of the Mill Creek church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Glenn, Rue, Buel, Willard, and DeLon Bailey, and three sisters, Thelma Coates, Ona Padilla, and Nina Bailey.
Surviviors include his wife of 52 years, Mildred Bailey of RUssellville; two sons, David Bailey and wife Trish of Dover, Terry Bailey of Russellville; one granddaughter, Tabatha Anthony of Pottsville; 3 great grandchildren; five brothers, Ragan Bailey of Russellville, Haskell Bailey of Atkins, Tennyson Bailey of Russellville, Paul Bailey of Russellville, Robert Bailey of Brandon; one sister, Mary Lee Metz of London.

Funeral will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 25, 2003 at Humphrey Chapel. Mr. David Bailey will officiate. His nephews will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be at Bailey Family Cemetery at Russellville, AR by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:00 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
